Gamescom ‘09 impressions (the photos)

Written by Tom Phobos      September 10th, 2009 at 1:33 pm

It was the end of august … a hot day, here in germany the hottest day of the whole summer … perfect for swimming, barbecue and beer. And what did i do ? I visited the Gamescom :)

With 245.000 visitors this year, the Gamescom is the largest games convention in europe. Luckily for me, from this year on the Gamescom was held in Cologne, about 60 miles from my hometown. So on thursday, 20th august, i took a trip to cologne to see all the new games, but also the magic of retro gaming.

Here are some impressions from this great show:

First of all many modern games were presented. So Blizzard presented Diablo III and Starcraft 2:

The problem was that the show had so much visitors that you had to wait up to 4 hours to play 10 minutes of Diablo III, so it was a no-go for me ;)

Also some sweet things were shown like a playable version of Gran Turismo 5:

and the PSP Go:

The most sound came from all of the music games, e.g from Lego Rock Band:

Overall it was very full and loud … but there was also a very nice small corner:

Did you see the flag on the left side ?

Yeah, a german collector (not me ;) ) made an exhibition with some parts of his really large collection. Here are some impressions:

Also the young people had fun playing all the retro games :)

Handhelds were also shown … do you know all of them ? ;)

He also had some computers to show:

And here are some strange magazines:

It was a really nice day at the Gamescom … stressy, but next year i’ll be back, i promise :)
