After all my Satellaview researching..

The Super Famicom was a bit late to the 16-bit race but it came with polish and class that eventually made it the best selling 16-bit system of all time. Come here to talk about the SuFami and Satellaview systems and games.

After all my Satellaview researching..

... I find this.

http://superfamicom.org/blog/2009/11/yo ... awze-dawg/

This video is surely weird enough for anyone to WTF over, regardless of language.

I was tempted to put up a front-page article about it, but right now that's at "pending review" due to me wondering how appropriate it really is.
Still, I hope you folks enjoy.

The thing is, they just used old school hip-hop. I don't think any of the music in it was made for the game. For example, the third song is Monie Love's "Down to Earth" (you can hear the remix of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dINHyEDegnY which isn't the same as the video game version, b/c apparently no one has uploaded the original version. XD) I'm pretty sure the other songs are all by US hip-hop artists from the time period.

Wow. o.o Not being much into the hip-hop scene I wouldn't even know about what's popular, nevermind what's faded into obscurity.

Are you maybe able to find all the specific songs featured in this?

LOL I wish. I'd love to find a copy of the second song (the one that samples "I Dream of Jeannie"). I wouldn't be surprised if it, too, was by Monie Love, as it does sound quite a bit like her. I'll try tomorrow and see if I can track down more of the songs.

I thought that I was onto something when I remembered that DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince had sampled the "I Dream of Jeannie" theme for "Girls Ain't Nothin' But Trouble" and that there had been a female response version by Ice Cream T of this song (similar to UTFO's "Roxanne Roxanne" which got several response records made over it, tho the Fresh Prince/Ice Cream T version was never as popular as "Roxanne Roxanne" and its responses, possibly b/c the Fresh Prince hits a woman over the head with a trash can in his version and tries to force a woman into prostitution in her version, which is probably why he had to move to Bel Aire, but I digress).

So having not gotten anywhere after all that, I decided to look up "I Dream of Jeannie" on Wikipedia. BINGO! There were actually FIVE different songs that sample the theme song (not all of them even being rap songs). At any rate, the song featured in this game is "Sucker DJs" by Dimples D. It is her only "hit" song.

I'm still working on the rest of the songs, but that first one gets tough to hear when the announcer starts talking over the verses. XD

Well I found another song, and it taught me something I didn't realize: the Satellaview came out in 1995. I thought it was older than that for some reason. Probably thrown off by all the old school hip-hop. But anyway, the song is "That's the Way (I Like It)" covered by Spin Doctors and Biz Markie from the soundtrack to the 1996 film Space Jam.

Maybe. There's one song that's repeated in both eps that I haven't heard, so I'll see if I can find it anywhere. It might be one of the missing songs that I couldn't figure out the name of.

Hey, Alex, dur question.

Do you tend to come across old gaming magazine publications? I'd be interested in any of the ones that offer Satellaview info, including game previews/reviews and schedules.

Just thought I'd bump this up for no real reason. :P

So, have folks other than Stan64 been checking the blog lately? There's been a slew more ROM releases. I got a few coming up as well, but I've been putting it off for work on the Sega Pico Sega Retro Wiki articles.
