How To: Fix Your Blinking NES

Editors Note: I’ve always been amazed by the bredth of knowledge our forum goers have about modding and repair work. Some of them have even been kind enough to write up their methods for others to follow! So every now and then, we’ll be publishing select articles from these members on how to do everything from fix simple hardware problems to creating full-on customizations. We hope you find it useful!
Hello, this faq is to help people get around the problem of their old NES blinking instead of playing games. It is not too hard to get the NES open, but I will detail it anyway. This faq assumes that you the modder take any responsibility for this modification as this faq exists for like for edjumacational reasons.
More Beer!

While I was shopping for hand soap yesterday, I came across something that looked suspiciously like a beer can in the bath products section. At fist I wondered if a beer had been placed here by mistake. Picking it up I realized by its weight that it was not a beverage. I tried to think of what it might be. Perhaps it was something to make your bathroom smell like a brewery? Or maybe it could be something that cleans your tub with the cleansing powers of beer? As strange as those ideas sound, the truth is actually even weirder.
Friday Masochism: Buta ge de iinjyanai?
Game: Buta ge de iinjyanai? (Wouldn’t A “Pig Game” be Great?)
Year: 1998
Platform: Playstation
Company Responsible: Shangri-la
Arbitrary Rating: 2 trotters and a waffle
Summary: This is by far the worst game I have ever played.
The In Depth: One of Shangri-la’s finer productions, Sensei first attempted to play it with a Gamecube controller he mistakenly picked up. It took him a few minutes to realize this strategy was not for the best but once he did he was super sorry about it.
Starting the game you get to choose your pig. He went with the ugliest one because he remembered Charlotte’s Web was a really good book. The pigs name was “BuuBuuZ” which translates to “Oink Oink Z”. That’s a pretty good name if you ask me.
Starting the game you receive 2000 yen (About $20) to live out your wildest pig fantasies. You may not think that’s much money but for a pig in today’s economy everything counts.

Virtual Boy Price Guide
We’ve been getting a lot of requests for more price guides lately. Seems people are finding them somewhat useful! That’s enough to make us happy. We have several others in the works right now (Famicom, Dreamcast, and others) so today we’ll be bringing you one of our smaller, more humble guides: Virtual Boy. This system never really saw a lot of love. It got a lot of support initially, but developers were quick to pull out as the system’s sales never took off. This resulted in a really wild assortment of prices. Games tend to either be very cheap, or very expensive.
So without further ado, here is the price guide!

Embarrassing Japanese Error and Disturbing Game Idea
While my Japanese may be getting better the longer I live in this country it is still far from perfect. This fact has often led me to some very embarrassing language mistakes. This latest one was pretty amusing and I thought I would share it.
In Japan there is a very popular game for the Nintendo DS handheld system. In the West it is known as “Animal Crossing”. The Japanese name is “Doubutsu no Mori”. This basically translates to “Animal’s Forest”. I was talking about this game with one of my students and I said it a bit wrong. I didn’t even notice the error at first until the student shuddered for a second and then began laughing. You see instead of “DOUbutsu no Mori” I said “DAIbutsu no Mori”. Find out why that is funny by clicking below.
